On Tuesday, the James Webb Space Telescope captured an explosion of two neutron stars colliding.

This blast is called a kilonova, and those events are the reason for creating space gold and platinum.

It is the first time for the space telescope to capture the rise of kilonova emissions.

NASA's James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has detected two neutron stars crashing into each other so violently, it could have created gold in space.

A kilonova happens when two neutron stars gravitate around one another and then crash.

The energy of such explosions can be detected by remote sensors on Earth and in space. This blast was first detected by NASA last March.

It is also the first time that scientists detected a spot of the blast using the telescope.

They also earned evidence of heavy elements being released by such events.
