Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani confirmed on Tuesday that his country's joining of European countries that have suspended asylum applications for Syrians was based on a temporary decision.
Tajani told the public channel Rai 3: "Yesterday, the government decided to stop processing asylum applications" for Syrians, but it is a "temporary decision".
The head of Italian diplomacy said that at the moment, "we do not have any risk of irregular migration", and "we do not have any terrorist risks, but we must be vigilant because things can change at any moment".
