Italian PM Begins First Foreign Visit to Brussels, Sharm el-Sheikh

The Italian government announced that Prime Minister (PM) Giorga Meloni will visit the headquarters of the European Commission in the Belgian capital, Brussels, next Thursday, November 3, to meet the leaders of the European Union institutions.

The prime minister will travel to Egypt to participate in the Sharm el-Sheikh summit (COP27) on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 November, and in the middle of the same month she will head to the Indonesian city of Bali to attend the G20 summit, according to the Italian Aki news agency.

Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi had invited Meloni, in a congratulatory cable, on the occasion of assuming the presidency of the new Italian government, to participate in the Global Climate Summit (COP27).

He said that he is Italy is able to play a positive and constructive role during the upcoming summit."

He expressed his aspiration to work with the newly appointed Italian premier to strengthen the Egyptian-Italian bilateral relations within the framework of the solid partnership that brings together Egypt and Italy in all fields.”
