On Wednesday morning, in an unprecedented vote, the Israeli government approved an agreement to release about 50 Israeli prisoners in Gaza and a ceasefire for at least four days.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued an official statement confirming the government's decision, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, to approve the first deal to release detainees in Gaza.
The statement said: “The government of Israel is committed to returning all abductees to their homes.
The statement revealed hat the Israeli government approved the first phase plan to achieve this goal, during which at least 50 Israeli prisoners - women and children - will be released over a period of four days, during which there will be a truce in Fighting".
The statement added: "The release of every ten additional abductees will lead to an additional day of calm."
Israel also agreed to release Palestinian women and minors from prisons and allow them to return to their homes, mostly in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
