The military reported Tuesday that Israeli soldiers stormed an armed group stronghold in the second-largest city in the occupied West Bank, detonating a bomb lab and engaged in a gunfight. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, there were five Palestinian fatalities and twenty injuries.

At a time when tensions are rising, the nocturnal raid in Nablus' old city, or kasbah, was one of the worst in the West Bank in 2022.

Flames and smoke could be seen rising in the night sky over Nablus on television video. According to the army, shoulder-launched missiles were employed. Locals reported hearing a big explosion that shook the old city and the nearby districts.

The Palestinian gunmen known as the Lions' Den were the raid's intended target. The army claimed that the gang was behind the recent fatal shooting of an Israeli soldier as well as other failed attempts.

According to the Health Ministry, the five males slain in the operation were in their 20s and 30s. According to the ministry, a number of the injured were in critical condition.
