Israeli outlets report significant casualties among Israeli forces in several areas of Gaza, amid escalating fighting and complex ambushes by Palestinian militants.

At least four Israeli soldiers have been confirmed killed following an ambush in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, according to Israeli media. The attack is reportedly part of a series of intense security incidents that erupted across multiple fronts in the Gaza Strip on Sunday.

Israeli media reported fatalities and injuries among military forces during clashes in Khan Younis, Shejaiya, and Tuffah neighborhoods. Additionally, several soldiers were reported killed in a separate security incident in Jabalia, in northern Gaza.

Although Israeli military censorship is limiting official details, unofficial Israeli sources confirmed that two major security incidents took place earlier in the day — one in the northeast of the Gaza Strip and another near Khan Younis in the south.

According to these reports, at least three Israeli soldiers were initially confirmed killed and others critically injured in an anti-tank missile attack targeting a military vehicle. Five Israeli military helicopters reportedly evacuated the wounded to hospitals in Tel Aviv, indicating the severity of the injuries.

Rescue operations in the area reportedly came under heavy fire, leading to prolonged clashes lasting several hours. In response to fears that soldiers might be captured, the Israeli military implemented the so-called “Hannibal Protocol,” unleashing intense artillery and aerial bombardment to prevent possible kidnappings.

While early reports suggested a soldier might have been abducted, subsequent Israeli sources clarified that the missing soldier was later found dead, ruling out any capture. The events coincided with heavy exchanges of fire between Palestinian factions and Israeli forces, particularly in Gaza’s eastern areas, amid concerns of further ambushes or explosive devices.

Israeli media described the attacks as among the most sophisticated since the resumption of hostilities, with Palestinian fighters reportedly employing well-coordinated ambush tactics that inflicted significant casualties on advancing and supporting Israeli forces.

Although the Israeli military has not disclosed which specific unit was targeted in the attack, the army responded with widespread aerial and artillery bombardment in an effort to contain the fighting and prevent further losses or potential abductions.

Preliminary estimates indicate that at least 10 Israeli soldiers have been killed since the beginning of July, compared to around 30 in June, reflecting a rising trend in the frequency and complexity of Palestinian military operations against Israeli forces.

The situation remains fluid, with continued military operations and a heightened security presence throughout the Gaza Strip.
