The Israeli Foreign Ministry summoned the Ukrainian ambassador to Tel Aviv, Yevgeny Korneichuk, against the background of the Ukrainian embassy's harsh criticism of the Israeli government for its stance towards the Ukraine crisis.
the Israeli Foreign Ministry said: “With regard to his repeated statements against Israeli politics, the Ambassador of Ukraine, Yevgeny Korniychuk, was summoned for an explanatory conversation on July 3 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the conversation will be conducted by Eliza Bin Noun, Director of Political Affairs.”
Added that the Israeli government continues to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine in accordance with previously reached agreements, but the ambassador's behavior does not help.
Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen had recently announced that the Israeli Foreign Ministry would summon Kornechuk to protest the Ukrainian embassy's statement, which described Israel's position on the Ukrainian conflict as "pro-Russian", criticized the Israeli government for the lack of assistance to Kiev, and described Cohen's recent visit to Kiev as fruitless
