A senior general in the Northern Front Command of the Israeli army expected that the Lebanese "Hezbollah" group would launch an attack against Israel in the 'near future', according to Al-Arabiya news website.
The Israeli newspaper 'Yisrael Hayom' quoted the general as saying: "The northern border is approaching an escalation that may last for several days."
Moreover, he threatened that the Israeli army would respond to Hezbollah’s attack "with unprecedented severity, unlike the incidents that took place last year, in which Israel refrained from responding with direct fire.
Last November, Israel's ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Gilad Erdan, submitted an official letter to the UN Security Council calling for immediate action against Hezbollah's activities in southern Lebanon.
