On Sunday, Egypt's Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Atti expressed in his speech before Parliament that the main cause of the GERD no-deal crisis is Ethiopia's intransigence.

Moreover, Abdel Atti overviewed the various rounds of discussions with the Ethiopian sides highlighting the efforts of the US in handling the role of the mediator between Egypt and Ethiopia.

He also referred that both parties signed with the initials a draft of the final agreement around the GERD crisis, however, it was shortly rejected by Ethiopia.

On the other hand, the African Union hosted more rounds between the three parties without reaching any deal or agreement.

In the same context, Abdel Atti asserted that Egypt is suffering from drought and water deficit.

Moreover, Egypt is one of the most countries using water recycling.

The minister explained that Egypt needs almost 114 billion cubic meters, the state produces only 80 billion cubic meters.

However, the minister's statement was directed to the parliamentary specialized committees for further studying.
