Ireland's Foreign Minister, Michael Martin, said that his country, together with Spain and Slovenia, are working towards recognition of the State of Palestine.

He stressed, saying: There are many countries with a similar mentality in the European Union who are working with us on the issue of recognizing Palestine, indicating his country’s full support for voting to recognize the State of Palestine and coordination with the European side in this regard.

The Irish Foreign Minister added during a joint press conference with Sameh Shoukry in Cairo, “We are waiting for these decisions and negotiations, which are taking place in full swing, but we cannot wait for this decision forever.”

The Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs condemned the Israeli massacres against civilians in Gaza, saying: “The Gaza Strip is densely populated and I condemn the bombing of Gaza, because it is unacceptable from a humanitarian standpoint. Children and women have been killed... What is happening is barbaric atrocities.”

He continued: "We are awaiting an analysis of the situation regarding the discovery of mass graves, and all these actions need to be in accordance with international law, and we have submitted a request to the International Court of Justice regarding this matter."
