Iraqi club Al-Karma SC announced on Wednesday the signing of Egyptian winger Ahmed Abdelkader from Al Ahly SC, as part of the current winter transfer window, with the deal running until 2027.

In a statement published on its official Facebook page, Al-Karma said Abdelkader had joined the club “from the Club of the Century to the Falcons of the West,” confirming that the former Al Ahly player has signed a contract lasting one and a half seasons.

Earlier, Abdelkader announced his departure from Al Ahly in a message posted on Instagram, saying his journey with the club had come to an end after more than five years filled with memories and key moments. He thanked Al Ahly’s management, players, and supporters, wishing the club continued success.

The player formally signed his transfer documents at his agent’s office in Cairo. The move will initially be on a six-month loan starting in January, during the ongoing winter transfer window.

Abdelkader’s contract with Al Ahly was set to expire at the end of the current season. Negotiations over a renewal collapsed due to financial differences, with Al Ahly offering 17 million Egyptian pounds per season, while the player reportedly requested 50 million pounds annually.
