Iraq starts nation-wide vaccination campaign

Iraq starts on Saturday a nation-wide vaccination campaign against COVID-19 using the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The Iraqi Health Minister Hassan El Tamimi told Al-Ain that the ministry has received the first patch of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses as part of the COVAX initiative for achieving a fair distribution of the vaccine around the world last Thursday.

The first patch included the 336,000 AstraZeneca Coronavirus vaccine, in addition, the ministry managed in providing the necessary requirements for receiving the patch.

El Tamimi asked Iraq's residents to submit their information through the official specialized e-platform, next they will receive the location and setting of the vaccination, in addition to the final dates of the two doses.

The minister added that the country is expected to receive more COVID-19 vaccine shipments through the upcoming weeks.

The upcoming vaccine shipments will be sent by COVAX, Sinopharm, and Pfizer.
