The Iraqi Ministry of Trade has announced the upcoming visit of an Iraqi delegation to Lebanon to deliver food and medical aid. According to a statement by Sattar Al-Jaberi, the Deputy Minister of Trade, reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the delegation will discuss with Lebanese officials the logistics of delivering the aid.
Al-Jaberi highlighted that the Iraqi government had taken several urgent actions following the recent aggression on Lebanon and Gaza. These include initiatives to replenish a fund dedicated to the reconstruction of Lebanon and Gaza, aiming to assist in rebuilding the areas destroyed during the conflicts. He also mentioned that the Iraqi government had exempted retirees from deductions that state employees contribute to support a major aid campaign targeting the Lebanese people, providing them with immediate food and medical supplies.
Furthermore, the Iraqi Cabinet has formed a committee, chaired by Al-Jaberi, to oversee and expedite the provision of urgent assistance to the Lebanese people. This committee is also coordinating with the Lebanese government to finalize the mechanisms for delivering the humanitarian, food, and medical aid, which began following the ceasefire announcement.
