Fars, the Iranian news agency, said today, quoting an informed source, that the police have arrested 3 people in Iran in connection with the mass poisoning of students in some schools in the country.
And the agency added: "Against the background of poisoning in some schools, a source reported that 3 people were arrested yesterday in connection with the matter."
Last Monday, Iran's Ministries of Health, Intelligence, and National Security indicated that an investigation had been opened into cases of mass poisoning of schoolchildren that began at the end of November 2022 in the city of Qom, during which 18 schoolgirls were poisoned without knowing the reason.
Similar cases are taking place in the capital, Tehran, as well as in cities such as Borujerd in western Iran, Ardabil in the north of the country, and the city of Sari as well.
Iranian media reported that at least 150 students have been hospitalized so far.
For his part, Public Prosecutor Muhammad Jaafar Montazeri and Deputy Minister of Health Younes Panahi expressed their belief that "external forces" may be behind the management of these poisoning cases.
Yesterday, Tuesday, a source in the Iranian parliament said that the cause of a series of cases of poisoning of children in schools is nitrogen.
