Iran Names Squad for March Camp Ahead of World Cup 2026 Preparations

The technical staff of the Iran national football team has announced its squad for the March training camp as part of final preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to the tournament draw, Iran has been placed in Group G alongside Egypt national football team, Belgium national football team, and New Zealand national football team.

Iran will play two friendly matches during its camp in Antalya, facing Nigeria national football team on March 27 and Costa Rica national football team on March 31.

The squad includes striker Mehdi Taremi, currently playing for Olympiacos, while Sardar Azmoun has been left out following recent political remarks on social media.

Iran Squad for March Camp

Goalkeepers: Alireza Beiranvand, Seyed Hossein Hosseini, Payam Niazmand, Mohammad Khalifeh.

Defenders: Ali Nemati, Hossein Abedzadeh, Shoja Khalilzadeh, Saman Fallah, Hossein Kanaani, Danial Esmaeilifar, Ehsan Hajsafi, Milad Mohammadi, Abolfazl Jalali, Saleh Hardani, Ramin Rezaeian.

Midfielders: Saeid Ezatolahi, Mohammad Ghorbani, Omid Norafkan, Saman Ghoddos, Amir Mohammad Razaghinia.

Forwards: Mohammad Mohebi, Mehdi Ghayedi, Mehdi Torabi, Hadi Habibi Nejad, Mehdi Taremi, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Ali Gholizadeh, Mehdi Hashemnejad, Ali Alipour, Shahriar Moghanlou, Amirhossein Hosseinzadeh, Dennis Eckert.

Uncertainty remains over Iran’s participation in the World Cup, amid ongoing regional tensions. 

The tournament is scheduled to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico starting June 11, with Iran previously set to play two group-stage matches in Los Angeles and one in Seattle.
