The Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and his accompanying delegation participated in the Islamic Philanthropy Fund (IPF) launch event organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), at the United Nations House in Riyadh.
This important event featured a panel discussion during which, the OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs pointed out the significant role Islamic Philanthropy can play in mobilizing additional resources to help Institutions to better address the needs of displaced persons, refugees, and migrants.
Representatives of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) also spoke at the panel.
The launch event was also marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the OIC and IOM on the OIC's support for the IOM’s Islamic Philanthropy Fund.
The MoU was signed by Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakheet, ASG for Humanitarian Affairs of the OIC, and Mr. Mohammed Abdiker, Chief of Staff of the Director-General of IOM.
