On Sunday, Indonesia detected signals that could come from the flight recorder of the Sriwijaya Air jet, which crashed into the sea minutes after taking off from the capital, Jakarta.

Indonesian military chief Hadi Tjahjanto said that a naval ship deployed to search for the plane has caught a signal at the crash site.

The Indonesian authorities announced today, Saturday, that they have found debris believed to be of the Indonesian plane which they lost contact with after taking off from Jakarta.

The Boeing 737 passenger plane has crashed into the sea shortly after taking off from the Indonesian capital earlier today en route to Pontianak in West Kalimantan province.

The authorities said that the plane was carrying 62 passengers,  in addition to 6 crew members.

Tracking the plane’s path showed that it disappeared just 4 minutes after take-off from Jakarta on a domestic flight, without further details.
