Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mostafa Waziri received Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, at Al-Hakim Mosque, on the sidelines of his current official visit to Cairo.
Accompained by Dr. Waziri, Indian PM and his delegation toured the mosque.
During the tour, Waziri reviewed the history of the mosque, its historical and archaeological value, and the restoration project carried out by Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in cooperation with the Ministry of Awqaf, which was completed and inaugurated last February.
At the end of the visit, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities was keen to present a souvenir to Indian PM, as an expression of cooperation between Egypt and India, especially in the field of trade since ancient times.
On his part, Modi expressed his great admiration for the mosque and carved inscriptions on its walls and entrances, and his happiness to visit this important archaeological mosque.
It is worth mentioing that, Al-Hakim Mosque dates back to the Fatimid period.
