Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the slogan and theme of India's presidency of the Group of Twenty (G20) and launched a website.

In an address to the audience, the Prime Minister indicated that from 1 December 2022, India will assume the presidency of the G20 Summit.

Modi said that the G20 is the main forum for international economic cooperation accounting for about 85% of the world's total output, more than 75% of the volume of global trade, and about two-thirds of the world's population.

Modi described the occasion as very important and expressed his happiness with the growing interest and activities associated with the G20.

India invited Egypt to attend the G20 summit as a "guest country" during India's presidency of the group.

During the joint press conference held by Indian External Affairs Minister Geischenker with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in Cairo on October 15, 2022, said that Egypt's presence represents a strong addition to the G20 meetings.

The meetings will address many issues, including climate change and support for developing countries.

Prime Minister Modi pointed out that the G20 slogan is not just a slogan but a message and a sentiment running through the veins of India.

“It is a determination that permeates our thoughts and is based on the idea that the ‘world is one family’’ Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” he said, adding that the G20 slogan reflects the idea of global brotherhood.

He added that the lotus flower in the logo expresses the thought, faith and heritage of ancient India. The Prime Minister said that Adwit's philosophy emphasizes the unity of all creatures and through this philosophy, differences in today's world will be resolved.

The slogan and theme of the G20 express many of the important messages that India is sending. "Through the G-20," he said, "India is giving both Buddha's message of freedom from war and Mahatma Gandhi's solutions to confronting violence with new dimensions."

The Prime Minister indicated that India's presidency of the G20 comes at a time when crises and chaos prevail. He stressed that the world is still suffering from the effects of a devastating global pandemic that only comes once a century, as well as conflicts and many economic problems.

"The lotus flower in the G20 logo is a symbol of hope in such difficult times," the prime minister said. The Prime Minister noted that even if the world is in deep crisis, we can still make it a better place.
