India's health ministry on Tuesday reported 263 cases of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1.

The ministry said, according to Indian news channel NDTV, that about half of the cases were reported in Kerala state, while the new variant has been detected in 10 states across the country.

The ministry said that 239 cases were reported in December, while 24 cases were reported in November 2022.

It is worth mentioning that, The World Health Organization (WHO) recently warned of spread of "JN.1", saying that it is "variant of interest".

Moreover, WHO called for caution against the spread of the virus in different parts of the world and the increase in the incidence of coronavirus from the new strain.
