India recorded 12,193 new cases of coronavirus within 24 hours, bringing the number of cases in the country to 44,881,877 NDTV reported.
It added that the death toll from infection with the virus in the country rose to 531,300 cases, after 42 new deaths were recorded.
The pace of daily infections in India had slowed at the beginning of this year.
