Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, already incarcerated and implicated in about 200 cases, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison on corruption charges, according to Agence France-Presse.
The court also sentenced his third wife, Bushra Bibi, to seven years in prison in the same case, which involved the alleged embezzlement of funds from his foundation, Al-Qadir Trust.
Judge Nasser Jawad Rana announced the verdict, and Bushra Bibi was taken into custody immediately after the ruling.
Imran Khan, maintaining his defiance, declared he would not negotiate or seek leniency. "I will not make any deal, nor will I ask for any reduction in my sentence," he told reporters following the court's decision.
Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023, facing charges he insists are politically motivated to keep him detained and hinder his political aspirations.
Bushra Bibi's imprisonment comes shortly after she was released following the suspension of a prior conviction. The case has further intensified political tensions in Pakistan, drawing both domestic and international attention.
Khan’s supporters argue the verdict is part of a broader campaign to marginalize him politically, while the government insists the rulings are a result of due legal process.
