The operating room of the Ministry of State for Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs (SMIEEA) continues following up the position of Egyptians stranded abroad after the suspension of flights in a number of countries.
Officials of the ministry are following the implementation of precautionary measures to limit the spread of the second wave of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
SMIEEA announced that the number of those who registered in the stranded form - prepared by the ministry - has reached 1,494 Egyptian citizens, most of them in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Sudan, and Turkey.
The Minister of Immigration Nabila Makram has previously confirmed that communication and coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Chamber of Tourism Companies has begun, as well as coordination with the concerned authorities to provide all forms of support to stranded Egyptian citizens.
She affirmed that communications were conducted with the leading figures in the Egyptian communities in a number of countries to help those stranded within the framework of the initiative "Let us Support One Another".
Wait until the opening of airspace.
The minister had appealed to all Egyptians wishing to return to their work in the countries that announced the closure of airports, to postpone their travel to intermediary "transit" countries until the picture was fully clear regarding the suspension of air traffic. She also urged the Egyptian nationals to wait until the opening of airspace.
She recommended them to postpone travel except in the cases of extreme necessity until the complete vision becomes clear about air traffic during the coming period in light of the spread of the second wave of the Corona pandemic.
