Iconic Politician Abdel Ghaffar Shokr Passes away

Iconic politician and the Deputy Head of the National Council for Human Rights Abdel Ghafar Shokr passed away, his niece, journalist Amina Talal Shokr, announced on Saturday.

His funeral will be held today afternoon at his hometown in Tira village, Nabaruh, Dakahlia.

The late icon held several positions such as the deputy head of the Arab and African Research Center (AARC), the Socialist Popular Alliance Party, and a member of the political office of the Altagamoa Party.

He started his career in 1953; he joined several political movements dedicated to the Egyptian Revolution in 1952.

His views were mainly concerned with democracy, social equality, justice, the activities of parties in the society, globalization, and capitalism.
