Hungarian Foreign Minister Petr Sjärto announced that his country would block EU financing of any arms supplies to Ukraine as long as the Hungarian OTP bank is on Ukraine's "black list."

"The inclusion of the Hungarian bank on the international list of war financiers is resentful and unacceptable," Sjärto said in remarks reported by the Hungarian Daily News newspaper on Tuesday.

He added, "Our position is clear ... as long as OTP Bank and its management are on this list, Hungary will not support any subsequent EU financing of arms supplies to Ukraine."

He made it clear that his country will not only prevent the allocation of 500 million Euros but will not support any other proposals regarding the financing of subsequent arms supplies.

It is noteworthy that Ukraine included the Hungarian OTP Bank on the list of "financiers of war" for continuing to work with Russia, which Budapest rejects and calls on the European Union to put pressure on Kyiv.
