BTS treated their fans on Friday by dropping their English pop song 'Butter' and the world cannot get enough of it.
'Butter' music video was the fastest video in YouTube history to surpass 10 million views in just 13 minutes. The MV had crossed 53 million views in the first seven hours of being shared and got more than 5.4 million likes on YouTube.
Fortunately, BTS never stops until they get what they want and this track will certainly win at the Grammys next year.
"I want to make songs that remain in people's minds for a long time," BTS' leader Namjoon told BuzzFeed News of the song.
Although not all the group members can speak English fluently, they conquered the world and paved the way for other K-pop groups in the United States.
Struggles & Hardships
BTS was not what it looks like now, as they had their share of difficult circumstances; each member on his own and together as well.
The group began their career with a small agency that just started and had to promote their songs on their own. In this sense, they held a concert in L.A for free and walked down streets to invite people themselves.
BTS attended awards events in which they watched other artists receiving awards whereas at that very moment, they received none.
They had to wait and work harder to get the recognition and position they enjoy now.
BTS members have gone through anxiety, health problems, criticism and depression to reach the top and become one of the most influential artists in the whole wide world.
The path they have taken was the hardest, but they did not give up nor rest for one second as they practiced 12-16 hours a day.
The members walked hand in hand through this journey and had each other’s back in many ways.
BTS became an international phenomena as they outdid the western artists out there. However, they had never taken their success for granted and continued to work harder and harder to be the idols their fans proud of.
They kept their promise to the fans as they gave them hope, light, a new start for a brighter future where they can receive the love and happiness they deserve.
Now, they got recognized and appreciated all over the world and had collaborations with massive names in the industry such as; Nicki Minaj, Halsey, Steve Aoki, and Lauv.
The journey was really hard but they made it and ruled the world, conquering every obstacle in the way.
Remarkable Achievements
BTS have been named the biggest recording act in the world of 2020, according to the music industry organization, which bases its ranking on total activity.
The South Korean boy band typically shares songs in their native tongue, and they have found incredible success in doing so.
Nevertheless, it didn’t take long for them to expand globally, becoming chart-topping superstars who seem to smash records and make history every few months with new albums and singles.
In 2019, BTS made history as the first-ever South Korean group to headline and sell out Wembley Stadium. The group joined megastars such as Eminem, One Direction, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé
BTS was first group to win all daesangs at a year-end award show with their “Map of the Soul: Persona” and lead single "Boy with Luv", making them the artist with the most daesang wins in Mnet Asian Music Awards history.
They are the only K-pop group to win the Favorite Duo or Group – Pop/Rock and Favorite Social Artist awards at the American Music Awards.
BTS owns the most Twitter engagements (average retweets) for a music group.
The group was the first Korean act to reach No.1 on the Billboard Artist 100, as well as first K-pop group to reach the Top 10 on the US singles chart.
BTS is the first artist ever on all of IFPI’s4 charts; Global Album All Format, Global Album Sales, Global Digital Single, and Global Recording Artist.
Chief Executive at IFPI Frances Moore said: “We have introduced the Global Album All Format Chart to reflect the evolving landscape of the album format and to recognize how artists share their album projects in a variety of ways with their fans across multiple formats.”
Moreover, they are only K-pop group to win the Top Duo/Group award at the Billboard Music Awards.
Currently, BTS have clinched four BBMA nominations, including Top Social Artist, Top Duo/Group, Top Selling Song for 'Dynamite' and Top Song Sales Artist. They are going to perform 'Butter' on the BBMAs this Sunday.
BTS' Influence in The World
Over the years, BTS has built a reputation as being one of the most socially conscious groups not just in Korea but in the whole world.
They have a huge influence on their fans, ARMY, as they made them encounter new people, make friends from all over the world, and most importantly, they taught them compassion.
In the wake of serious Israeli escalation in Gaza, the ARMY has organized an initiative, Match A Meal for Palestine, to support innocent people in the occupied country.
Another solid example for their positive influence around the world is their anti-violence campaign with UNICEF.
Through the BTS Love Myself campaign, the band joins UNICEF Korea to #EndViolence against children and teenagers, with the hope of making the world a better place through their music.
Their campaign has not only brought greater awareness of the need to protect young people suffering against violence, but it has also inspired the ARMY to get involved and donate to the cause as well.
As of November 2018, the campaign has officially raised $1.4 million in total (1.6 billion KRW). The money donated to the cause came from direct donations of the ARMY, as well as the members’ own earnings as well.
Astonishingly, the band's name and songs have been mentioned in the school books.
The members themselves do charity work and denote to different organizations, education institutions, sick kids foundations, and so on. In addition, the ARMY have been doing fan projects over the years in each member's birthday.
Indeed, BTS brought each country around the world together with their lyrics that have touched on subjects such as mental health, consumerism, the education system, love, friendship, acceptance, persistence, and courage.
All we can say is that Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, and Jeon Jungkook formed a truly inspiring group and built devoted fan base that is called ARMY.
Within three weeks, the group will celebrate their 8th anniversary and host another edition of FESTA and sure thing is that ARMY will droll over the seven members.
