Henry Kissinger Dies Aged 100

Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger passed away on Thursday at his home in Connecticut at the age of 100, according to his company "Kissinger Associates".

Kissinger was born in southern Germany in 1923, where his father was a teacher. His family fled Nazi Germany and came to America in 1938.

After becoming an American citizen in 1943, he served in the 84th Army Division from 1943 to 1946, and received the Bronze Star for his meritorious service. He also later joined the Counter-Intelligence Corps in Germany, until 1959."

Kissinger earned bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees at Harvard University, where he taught international relations for nearly 20 years, and in 1969, President Richard Nixon appointed him as National Security Advisor.

He then served as Secretary of State under Presidents Nixon and Ford, where he Kissinger played central roles in opening up to China, negotiating an end to the Yom Kippur War/October 6 in the Middle East, and helping to end America’s role in the Vietnam war, and negotiated major arms control agreements with the Soviet Union.

He wrote 21 books on national security matters, and, as one of America’s great statesmen, he was regularly consulted by American presidents of both political parties and dozens of foreign leaders after he finished his government service in 1977.”

The deceased celebrated his 100th birthday in May, and remained active until his 100th birthday. Recently, he focused his attention on the implications of artificial intelligence, and was a frequent guest with the media, in discussion panels, writing, and traveling abroad.
