Egypt has taken all full preparations to confront any cases that may appear infected with monkeypox, Ministry of Health and Population spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar confirmed.
In press remarks, he added that efforts are underway to bring vaccines or anti-disease drugs.
Moreover, Abdel Ghaffar urged citizens to follow a number of necessary measures to avoid infection with the virus, such as avoiding contact with animals that can carry it, isolating infected patients from others, washing hands with soap and water or using alcohol, using personal protective equipment, as well as conducting veterinary quarantine on infected animals.
It is noteworthy that “monkeypox” is a zoonotic viral disease that occurs mainly in forest areas in central and western Africa.
Symptoms of this disease appear with fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes, and may lead to a number of medical complications. Scientists have been studying it for many years.
