Egyptian singer-actor, Haytham Shaker announced Tuesday on Facebook that he tested negative for coronavirus after battling the deadly virus for more than two weeks.
"Praise to God, after 16 days of isolation, the last smear came negative," Shaker wrote.
He also apologized for not being able to respond to everyone who tried to check on him.
On January 28, Shaker announced on the platform that he had contracted the virus.
According to World Health Organization (WHO), the novel coronavirus infected over 106 million people and killed 2,316 others worldwide since it emerged in China in 2019.
In March 2020, WHO declared coronavirus a global pandemic as the new virus has rapidly spread to more than 800,000 people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
Transmission of viruses between humans happens when someone comes into contact with an infected person’s secretions, such as droplets in a cough.
They can also be transmitted by coming into contact with something an infected person has touched and then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes.
It is known that older people appear to be more vulnerable to the effects of the emerging virus.
