MP Hanafi Gebaly became on Tuesday the speaker of the House of Representatives in its second legislative term 2021/2026 following an elections, for which four candidates were running.
Gebaly gained 508 votes out of 576 eligible votes, while the ineligible votes were 11.
Gebaly was competing with MP Mohamed Salah Abu Homaila who gained 57 votes, MP Ahmed Abdel Hakim Youssef (2 votes), and MP Mohamed Madina (9 votes).
Today, the oldest MP Farida Choubachi, who headed the inaugural session, was the first to vote followed by the youngest MPs; Fatma Selim and Abanob Ezzat.
