UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that the African Union (AU) is taking constructive steps to achieve development in the African continent.
Guterres stressed, during his speech at the opening session of the 36th ordinary session of the AU summit, that the African continent is ready for progress.
He pointed out that the African continent is full of natural resources and its great advantages are embodied in its peoples, which represent diverse cultures and languages.
He added that the relations between the AU and the United Nations (UN) have become stronger than before, pointing out that the African people bear the greatest brunt of the crises that struck the world recently.
He explained that the African continent needs economic action, stressing that Africa is rich in potentials, but not rich in global support.
