The Greek University of Patras recently announced opening a branch in Alexandria, Egypt, in a move that is the first of its kind by a higher education institution in Greece.
The University of Patras will open its first branch in the city after a recent agreement between President of the University of Patras, Christos Bouras, and President of the Greek Community in Alexandria, Andreas Vafiadis, according to Greek Reporter website.
The University of Patras has become the first Greek university with a branch abroad, and for the first time in history of the Greek community in Alexandria, a project will be implemented at the university level.
The new campus will house two departments: a Greek department, and an English department. It will offer a variety of subjects such as Greek culture, language and philosophy.
