Grand Imam, Pope Tawadros Agree to Establish Mutual Committee to Monitor Situation in Gaza

The Grand Imam of Al Azhar Sheikh Ahmed El Tayeb paid a visit to Pope Tawadros II, the Pope of the Orthodox Church.

The Grand Imam congratulated Pope Tawadros on Christmas, wishing a happy new year to all people.

He also highlighted that those exchanged visits reflect a mood of friendship, love, and solidarity between all Egyptians, and their unity.

El Tayeb also talks with the Pope about the escalations in Gaza, including the war, the killing of the innocent, especially children, racism, genocide, and bombing, especially amid the silence of the international community.

Therefore, the Grand Imam proposed the establishment of a mutual committee between Al Azhar and the Coptic Church to monitor the developments in Gaza and establish a unified and solid voice for the Gazans.

On his side, the Pope expressed his cheerfulness regarding the visits between Al Azhar, and the Coptic Church which enhances the unity of Muslims and Christians that would bring happiness to all Egyptians.

Pope Tawadros also welcomed the proposal of the Grand Imam to establish a committee to monitor and voice the situation in Gaza, especially ahead with the horrific increase in violence and killing by the Israelis against the innocent.
