Gov. Denies Plans to Demolish Iconic Qusun Mosque's Minaret

The cabinet's media center denied the allegations about demolishing the iconic minaret of Qusun Mosque within the upcoming days.

According to a statement issued by the media center, Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities denied the news saying that the minaret is being restored due to vertical and horizontal cracks in its body which affect its balance.

Moreover, the media center urged people to verify accuracy of reports circulated on social media in order to avoid spreading false rumors that may stir controversy and disturb public order.

It's worth mentioning that the Qusun Mosque is located in Mohamed Ali Street near New Helmiya area, Al-megharbelin.

Built by Prince Saif Al-Din Qusun Al-Saqi Al-Nasiri in 730 AH, 1329 AD and opened by Sultan Mohammed bin Qalawun.
