President Abdel Fattah El Sisi delivered a speech Thursday on the anniversary of the June 30th Revolution
Here is the full readout of the speech:
“In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful”
The great people of Egypt, honorable people,
In the lives of nations and peoples there are days like no other, when time almost stops, and the wheel of history slows down in respect for the will of the nation when it seeks life and the will of the people when they refuse their resources and future to be tampered with. Because of its long history, our ancient nation has passed through days like those. They include, and perhaps one of their most glorious is, the June 30th 2013, which will be commemorated in the hearts of generation after generation. The glorious June 30th Revolution, is a defining moment in the history of this precious homeland, when the Egyptian people chose the future they seek for their sons and grandsons. They chose the modern civil state with its tolerant national Egyptian identity that is open to the world. It is a moment, when the Egyptians declared to the entire world that their calm was nothing but power, their patience, rigidity and their tolerance wisdom that reconciled with time.
In the June 30th Revolution, the voice of Egypt was heard, announcing that it was too big to be hijacked and too great for anyone to think he could deceive its great people. During the days of this memorable revolution, the Egyptians wrote for themselves, throughout Egypt’s cities and villages, a direct constitution stemming from their popular conscience with the headline: Egypt is for the Egyptians, and its destiny will only be determined by its loyal sons.
The great people of Egypt,
The spirit of the June 30th Revolution, which represents a challenge and the ability to conquer the impossible itself, is still the compass of our action to this day and a ray of light that leads and inspires us in confronting the current challenges, after our success with God’s blessings and the will of the people, to surmount the challenges, which the hateful imagined and hoped would break and destroy us. We have encountered ferocious waves of black terrorism; a cursed alliance between the forces of evil and destruction that sought and still seeks to destroy our homeland. These waves were broken on the rocks of the robust will of the Egyptian people. As the evil have failed before, they will fail again, with God’s support and because of our cohesion and unity. We have faced unprecedented economic conditions. We relied, after the support of Allah, on the legendary perseverance of a great people, who once taught humanity civilization and modernity. And today, they give an example in realizing the value of the homeland and the importance of preserving it, while enduring the hardships for the sake of that. We did not take these challenges as an excuse to delay our battle for development and progress.
We also proceeded on both paths in parallel, survival and construction. The survival of the country, consolidating its pillars and building the future. The arms of our sons and daughters extended to every corner of Egypt to build, construct and establish, with the will of God, new rules for glory. That tremendous effort that Egypt made in the past years, cannot be wasted as the majority of our people are now facing two of the most difficult and harsh global crises for all countries of the world, namely the coronavirus pandemic and the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. The magnitude of the damage that affected the biggest economies is no secret, causing disruption of global supply chains. This is in addition to the war and the associated unprecedented food crisis, in terms of availability and prices.
I tell you with all honesty that if it were not for the National Program for Economic Reform, which has been implemented successfully and accurately since 2016 witnessed by far and near, and the development efforts achieved in the past years that raced against time, confronting the repercussions of the current international situation would have been extremely difficult.
The great people of Egypt,
Your country is on the right path with a solid national will that seeks nothing but public interest. It does not focus on anything but achieving your aspirations towards a decent life and a safe future. Egypt overcame difficulties throughout its ancient history and I am confident that it will overcome the current international crises and their local repercussions. It will continue its path towards building an advanced state, a secure homeland, and a stable and vibrant society. These are the great hopes to which Egyptians aspire and I look forward to that with them. God willing, luck will be on our side.
The honorable people of Egypt,
As we conclude we must remember our great heroes who sacrificed their lives to give us this precious blessing; the blessing of the homeland for which we thank God day and night. We remember our righteous martyrs from the Armed Forces and police, who are the sons of this people, and tell their families that they are alive with their Lord and have been provided for. They are alive in our hearts and in the conscience of this honorable homeland, which will never forget their benevolence.
Thank you, many happy returns, with Egypt being in peace, security and progress with all of you.
Long live Egypt, long live Egypt, long live Egypt
May Allah's peace and mercy be upon you
