FC Bayern Munich have been dealt another injury setback after Canadian international Alphonso Davies suffered a muscle tear that could sideline him for an extended period.

According to German outlet Kicker, Davies was injured in the 49th minute of Bayern’s match against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The left-back clutched his ankle as he went down, and although he was able to leave the pitch on his own after receiving treatment, he appeared visibly distressed while being substituted.

Initial reactions within the club varied. Head coach Vincent Kompany attempted to calm concerns after the match, suggesting the injury did not appear too serious and estimating a possible absence of two to four weeks.

However, sporting director Max Eberl sounded more pessimistic, hinting that the injury looked muscular and could result in a longer spell on the sidelines.

Bayern later confirmed that Davies sustained a tear in the muscle fibers of his right hamstring, stating that he will be “out for the time being,” without specifying a precise recovery timeline.

The 25-year-old had only recently returned to action in December following a nine-month absence due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

He had gradually regained his starting role and had made 12 appearances this season, five of them as a starter.

Regardless of whether his recovery takes two, four, or more weeks, Davies is set to miss key fixtures, including the upcoming Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund.

He is also expected to be unavailable for the return leg against Borussia Mönchengladbach on March 14 and the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 against an opponent yet to be determined.

For Bayern, already navigating a demanding domestic and European schedule, Davies’ latest injury represents a significant defensive blow at a critical juncture of the season.
