Frappart Becomes 1st Female to Officiate Champions League Match

Stephanie Frappart became the first woman to take charge of a Champions League match when she officiated at the Juventus-Dynamo Kyiv tie on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old Frenchwoman had previously refereed two Europa League matches and has taken charge of 18 matches in La Liga since making her debut in the French top flight in April last year.

She also refereed the Super Cup match between Liverpool and Chelsea last year and the women's World Cup final.

Who is Stephanie Frappart ?

Stéphanie Frappart (born 14 December 1983) is a French football referee. She has been on the FIFA International Referees List since 2009, and has refereed several high-profile matches.

She became the first woman to referee a major men's European match when she took charge of the 2019 UEFA Super Cup between Liverpool and Chelsea on 14 August 2019, in Vodafone Park of Beşiktaş J.K. Istanbul.
