On Saturday, BFM TV reported that Paris has canceled the planned fireworks displays and celebrations.
The celebrations usually take place on Champs-Élysées on New Year's Eve. This comes with the government rules to prevent the spread of the "Omicron" mutant.
On Friday, Jean Castex, the French Prime Minister, announced a ban on major public parties and fireworks displays on New Year's Eve and recommended that citizens, and even those who took the vaccination, undergo a medical examination for COVID-19 before gathering at New Year's celebration.
