The French Ministries of Health and Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude towards the Egyptian authorities for facilitating the evacuation of seven Palestinian children to French hospitals.

This humanitarian gesture carried out on Wednesday, underlines France's ongoing commitment to providing medical and humanitarian support to civilians in Gaza.

The joint statement outlined France's diverse support mechanisms in the region. French Foreign Minister, Stéphane Séjourné, addressing the United Nations Security Council, highlighted the various forms of assistance provided. These include medical treatments on the French vessel "Dixmude", currently stationed in the Port of Arish, where approximately a thousand medical examinations were conducted. In addition, France has been supporting medical structures run by NGOs in Gaza and those managed by partnering countries, primarily Jordan.

This evacuation operation is not the first of its kind. On December 28, France welcomed the first two injured Palestinian children as part of President Emmanuel Macron's commitment. These children received specialized care in pediatric hospitals in France. Such actions reflect France's consistent stance in providing immediate medical assistance and care for those in dire need, especially children requiring specialized treatment.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains a profound concern for France. The prolonged shortage of food, drinking water, and medical supplies has led to a severe health and nutritional crisis among the population. In light of these challenges, the French government has been actively involved in sending medical supplies and coordinating evacuating injured children.

During his UN Security Council address, Foreign Minister Séjourné reiterated the urgency of achieving a permanent ceasefire. He emphasized that this is the only viable solution to end the suffering of civilians in Gaza. France's involvement in the humanitarian efforts in Gaza goes beyond immediate relief; it is a commitment to the long-term well-being and stability of the region.
