At least 13 people have died in more than 200 forest fires in central Chile, authorities said Saturday, following the intense heat wave sweeping the country.
the Chilean authorities indicated in a statement - according to the American (Al-Hurra) channel - that about 40 fires have destroyed about 35,000 acres at a time when a summer heat wave is sweeping the country.
the local authorities declared "Bio-Bio" and neighboring "Napoli" two disaster areas, and they are among the most affected areas by the fires that extend from the capital, Santiago, to the southern parts of the country.
