Foreign Affairs, a US journal specializing in international relations, published an article by Robert E. Pappe, professor of political science and director of the University of Chicago’s Program on Security and Threats, in which he spoke about the “failure” of the Israeli bombing campaign in Gaza.
Pappe stressed that “the collective punishment campaign will not defeat (Hamas).
He revealed that since October 7, Israel has invaded northern Gaza with a combat force of 40,000 strength, and destroyed the small area in an intense bombing campaign the likes of which has not been seen in history.
About two million people fled their homes and more than 15,000 people were killed, including 6,000 children and 5,000 women, according to the Hamas-run Ministry of Health.
“Whatever the ultimate goal,” Pappe explained, “Israel’s mass destruction of Gaza poses profound moral problems.” Even if we judge it by strategic criteria, Israel’s approach is destined to fail, and it has certainly failed already.”
