Food Crisis Hits Latin America due to Drought

Drought and lack of rainfall continue to threaten Latin American countries during 2023. Some countries suffered severely from periods of water scarcity, which led to a deep food crisis, and reduced crop production and power outages, drought also led to the death of livestock, and fish.

And by 2023, 80 percent of Mexican territory will be affected by drought and water shortages, according to the Drought Observatory of Mexico.

In the report released by the National Meteorological Service (SMN), it was proven that 20.49% of the country's surface has no effects due to the dry season and 79.51% of the country's area is dry.

Argentina is one of the countries that suffers most from the drought crisis, which is getting worse with time, as the drought caused losses in the agricultural sector of no less than $11 billion, according to the Rosario Stock Exchange, as more than 50% of the country’s lands are affected by water shortages.
