FM, Iranian Counterpart Hold Talks in New York

Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Dr. Badr Abdel Atty, held a meeting on Saturday with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi.

The meeting came as part of the intensive and regular meetings of on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The meeting came as part of ongoing contacts between the two countries, following Minister Abdel Atty's participation in the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian president in July 2024.

The meeting saw an exchange of views on various issues of mutual interest, particularly the serious developments in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon in light of the unjustified Israeli escalation and its implications for regional security. 

Both sides emphasized the importance of de-escalation and avoiding the region's slide into a regional war that threatens the security and stability of its peoples.
