Brazilian giants Flamengo have officially announced the signing of midfielder Lucas Paquetá from English club West Ham United during the ongoing winter transfer window.
In a statement released on Friday evening, Flamengo confirmed that Paquetá has returned to the club on a long-term deal running until December 2030.
The 28-year-old will wear the No. 20 shirt as he begins a new chapter with the club where his professional career first took shape.
“After seven years away, Lucas Paquetá returns to his roots and officially signs a new contract with Flamengo,” the club said.
“He comes back to the place where his journey began, ready to write a new story with the red-and-black shirt.”
Paquetá left Flamengo seven years ago, promising supporters he would one day return.
After spells across Europe in Italy, France and England, that promise has now been fulfilled.
Having matured into an experienced international midfielder, he returns to Rio de Janeiro as a proven star rather than a rising prospect.
The Brazilian international will be available to represent Flamengo in all competitions this season, including the Carioca Championship, Brazilian Super Cup, Recopa Sudamericana, Brazilian Serie A, Copa Libertadores and the Copa do Brasil, adding quality and experience to both midfield and attack.
