Egypt has made the decision to open the nation's first facility for housing youngsters who are up for adoption.

A maximum of three months will be spent living in the centre as a temporary residence. Orphans or kids that have to be removed from large, troublesome Egyptian or foreign households will be housed in the facility.

According to Egypttoday.com, the centre will be run by the nonprofit organisation "FACE for Children in Need," which signed a contract with the minister of social solidarity, Nevine al-Qabaj, on Tuesday.

According to the article, the building is in Cairo and has space for up to 200 children. Its offerings will include delivering birth certificates and conducting medical examinations to confirm the wellbeing of orphans.

In an effort to decrease the number of children who grow up in Egypt without a family, the ministry introduced a new national adoption programme there in November.

The UNICEF chapter in Cairo, members of civil society, representatives from international relief organisations, as well as representatives from the government and the religious community, all participated in the dialogue that resulted in the signing of the accords.

In particular, Minister Nevine al-Qabaj drew attention to Article 80 of the Egyptian Constitution, which guarantees every child the right to a name and identification documents, mandatory vaccinations, healthcare, nutrition, a family, and a religious education in addition to support for their emotional growth and educational pursuits.

The ministry had already stated that it intended to expand the industry in 2021, either by preserving the right of orphaned children's family to raise them or by removing this right and funding their institutional upbringing. (ANSAmed).
