"Neuralink", a US technology Company, obtained permission from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to conduct the first clinical trial of implanting a chip inside the brain on humans, which is a milestone in the company's history of implanting a brain chip despite US investigations regarding its dealings with animal experiments.

Sources affiliated with the company said, without disclosing details of the planned study, that the approval from the US agency is an important first step that will one day allow our technology to help many more people.

The FDA acknowledged, in a statement, that the agency authorized Neuralink to use a brain implant and a surgical robot for patient trials but declined to provide more details.

The crucial achievement comes as Neuralink faces a federal investigation following Reuters reports about the company's animal experiments.
