Chelsea booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a commanding 5–1 victory over Charlton Athletic on Sunday, marking a winning start for new head coach Liam Rosenior in his first match in charge.
The Blues took control of the tie late in the first half when Jorrel Hato opened the scoring in stoppage time (45+4), giving Chelsea a deserved lead at the break.
Chelsea continued their dominance after halftime, with Tosin Adarabioyo doubling the advantage in the 50th minute.
Charlton briefly reduced the deficit through Miles Leaburn in the 57th minute, raising hopes of a comeback, but Chelsea quickly reasserted control.
Marc Guiu restored Chelsea’s two-goal cushion in the 62nd minute to make it 3–1, effectively ending Charlton’s resistance.
The Premier League side then added further gloss to the scoreline in stoppage time, as Pedro Neto scored in the 90+1 minute before Enzo Fernández completed the rout with a goal in the 90+4 minute.
The result sends Chelsea into the Round of 32, as FA Cup third-round fixtures are set to conclude on January 20.
