The Tunisian governorate of Sfax, where the family of the Nice attacker, Ibrahim El Ouissawi, lives in a big shock since yesterday, Thursday after killing three civilians.
In exclusive statements, the 20-years-old perpetrator’s mother spoke with Al-Arabiya channel which was the first channel to enter Ibrahim's house.
His mother said that Ibrahim called her upon his arrival in France, but she was not aware of what he was planning.
As for his brother, he explained to Al-Arabiya that Ibrahim told them while calling the family, that he would spend his night in front of the church, (Notre Dame Cathedral, which witnessed the attack), adding, "He sent me a picture for him standing in front of it."
Meanwhile, a neighbor of the family confirmed that the young man had no signs of extremism or terrorist tendencies. He also added that Ibrahim held several jobs before traveling to Italy.
It is noteworthy that, as soon as the perpetrator of the Nice crime was announced yesterday, a specialized counterterrorism squad headed from the capital Tunis to the Sfax Governorate and took a DNA sample of family members, awaiting the completion of the investigations into the links and motives of the terrorist attacker.
The official in charge of the prosecution in terrorism cases in France, Jean-Francois Ricard, announced yesterday evening, Thursday, that the Nice crime's attacker is a Tunisian born in 1999, and arrived on September 20 on the Italian island of Lampedusa, the main destination for migrants from Africa.
