Europe's Health Authorities Register 95 Cases of Unknown Origin Hepatitis

The European Center for Disease Prevention announced that about 95 cases of unknown origin hepatitis were recorded in 15 countries of the European Union (EU).

The center added that nearly 95 cases of acute of unknown origin hepatitis have been reported in children aged 16 years or younger in 15 countries in the European Economic Area.”

Most of the cases were recorded in Italy and Spain, 35 and 22 respectively, and in the Netherlands and Denmark, 6 cases, while in Ireland there were less than 5 cases. In Portugal and Romania, the number of cases reached 4 cases each, and in Belgium, 3 cases. Two cases were recorded in Austria, Cyprus, France, and Norway, and in Germany, Poland, and Slovenia, one case was detected.

However, the World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed the registration of nearly 230 cases of acute hepatitis of unknown origin in more than 20 countries.
