The European Parliament voted for the post-Brexit trade agreement between the European Union (EU) and Britain, the parliament announced on Wednesday.
It supported the trade deal by "6660 votes to five, with 32 abstentions," the EU Parliament added.
The President of the European Assembly David Sassoli said: "Today the European Parliament voted on the most far-reaching agreement the EU has ever reached with a third country."
However, the voting act was held on Tuesday, the final results were identified on Wednesday due to COVID-19 working restrictions.
The approved deal concluded the long debate and rounds of negotiations between both sides amid the UK's quitting the European bloc.
Sassoli clarified: "This can form the foundation on which we build a new forward-looking EU-UK relationship," he said, warning that MEPs would monitor the implementation of the deal and "not accept any backsliding from the UK government."
Britain officially ended its EU membership in January 2020, however, it had a transitional year in the various economic entities of the bloc.
The transitional year ended in December 2020 declaring the complete departure of the kingdom away from the bloc.
